Presbyterian Men to
Become Self-Sufficient

The National Council of Presbyterian Men (NCPM) has approved a plan to develop the financial resources necessary to support an expanded national program. The program involves supporting staff and developing programs that will strengthen the work of Presbyterian Men across our nation. The plan was presented to the NCPM, Inc. Executive Committee in October 2002 and approved for implementation at the Gathering of Presbyterian Men in New Orleans in April 2003.

Almost 4,000 of the 11,000 Presbyterian churches in the United States have active men’s organizations. A revitalized national program would aim to increase the number of churches with active men’s programs, provide program materials for the men’s groups, increase participation in the mission of the Presbyterian Church (USA), and help men more effectively serve Jesus Christ in our world today. The slogan for this work is “Serving Christ 24/7/365.”

Levels of Giving

A planned giving program has been designed to accomplish these goals. Presbyterian men will be asked to contribute from a penny or a dime a day up to major gifts of $5,000 to $10,000. The NCPM, Inc. which is now incorporated as a 501 (c)(3) tax-exempt organization, will invest these gifts with the Presbyterian Foundation.

There are nine levels of giving open to Presbyterian men and each giving level will be recognized annually with an appropriate award.

Legacy Giving

In addition to these nine cash options of giving, there is an opportunity for “Legacy Giving” involving estate gifts, some of which pay lifetime income while generating current tax advantages. Information on making estate gifts consisting of wills and bequests, life insurance, real estate and securities is available in “A Plan for Giving” brochure published by the NCPM, Inc (click here to download). Additional information concerning endowment funds may be obtained from the Presbyterian Foundation at 1-800-858-6127.
